Planning an Event

How to plan and promote your event:

Identify your team and their respective roles. Due to volunteer and time constraints, CureCMT4J is unable to manage your fundraiser for you. We recommend that you form a committee of friends, family and other people in your network who are excited about your cause. They will provide support throughout your planning and during your fundraiser.

Share your event details:

  • Build an event on Facebook
  • Build personal fundraising page (click here) if applicable
  • Utilize our flyer templates or create your own *
  • Notify the media like local newspapers and social links like Patch with event details for their calendar section
* Flyer templates, media alert examples, and other resources will be sent to you when you complete our community fundraising form.
Personal Fundraising Campaign

You can start an online campaign to create awareness and raise funds for CureCMT4J. We provide an easy-to-use personal fundraising page so you can share your story, collect and track donations, and even build a fundraising team. Choose the why and when that makes sense to you.

Celebrate a special occasion: The next time a special occasion is coming up—birthday, wedding, anniversary, etc.—encourage friends and family to skip the gifts and donate to CureCMT4J instead.

Train with a purpose: Do you want to make all those hours of training count for something more? No matter what the event or physical challenge (running, walking, biking, swimming, climbing, etc.), you can do it while fundraising for CureCMT4J.   Setting up an online personalized fundraising page for CureCMT4J allows you to securely accept donations, track fundraising progress, solicit friends and family for support, and thank donors.  All donations made online through CureCMT4J fundraising platform will automatically receive a tax receipt.

Tips for success

People give when they care. Include inspiring stories and photos of yourself or the person you are honoring on your fundraising page, and talk about why CureCMT4J is important to you.

Reach out to your networks (friends, family, coworkers, etc.) periodically throughout the course of your campaign. Start with a launch of the campaign, sprinkle in some reminders, and don’t forget to thank your donors.

Think of your fundraising campaign as an ongoing dialogue to keep your audience engaged. You should be communicating with your network at least once or twice a week.

To keep them motivated, make sure your messaging reminds them that they are part of an important and impactful team.

Set yourself up for success by preparing as many materials as you can at the beginning of your campaign. Here are some sample content assets you will need:

  • Email blasts and follow-ups
  • Letters to sponsors, donors, and local media
  • Facebook Event and other social media posts
  • Flyers and other promotional collateral
